Kick Butts Day 2013 @ EVERYWHERE!

Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco. As a teacher, youth leader or health advocate, you can organize events to raise awareness of the tobacco problem, encourage youth to stay tobacco-free and urge strong action to protect kids from tobacco.

Children: Is there an app for that? Raising happy successful kids in the digital world @ Edmunds Middle School Gymnasium

Erin will answer important questions, such as:
* Are video games and Facebook connecting us or disconnecting us?
* How do I monitor my kids when I don’t understand the technology they use?
* Are young people really good multi-taskers?
* How can we help our kids become good, caring digital citizens?
* What can parents do to guide their kids through a wired world?

Vermont Prevention Day at the VT Statehouse

Please join Prevention Works! VT as we celebrate and promote the many critical ways substance abuse prevention services keep Vermonters and their communities safe and healthy and that prevention works.

AGENDA:
9:30 -10:15 a.m. Prevention advocates to attend House opening session

10:30 a.m. Opening Session and Prevention Champions Awards Presentation

11:00 a.m.- Noon Smart Approaches to Marijuana with Kevin Sabet and former Congressman Patrick Kennedy: Get all the latest information about what is going on concerning marijuana laws at all levels of government across the U.S. and developing marijuana policy based on reputable science and sound principles of public health and safety.

12:45–1:45 p.m. Lunch on your own – off-site or with your legislator in cafeteria

2-3:00 p.m. Special Session for youth and young adults to meet with Kevin Sabet
Kevin’s first work in drug policy began when he was a youth member of his local community coalition. He will share his story and answer questions about his journey from teen prevention advocate to national drug policy expert.

2-3:00 p.m. Networking session for coalition coordinators and others interested in statewide substance use issues
